The Osseo Alumni Cross Country Association is celebrating its 24th year of providing scholarships to boys and girls who have participated in the Cross Country program and have graduated from Osseo Senior High.

It was spearheaded in 2001 by Mark Stephens, class of 1972 and captain of the 1971 CC team. He wanted to leave a way to support Osseo Cross Country runners and to remember the great coaches who worked with the boys and girls running program. He started by just asking 10-15 alumni for money to get the program started and ended up with over $1000 to provide the first two $500 scholarships.

As of June, 2025, we have awarded a total of 128 - $500 scholarships ($64,500) in that time.

In 2001, the scholarship was called the Jim Deane Scholarship. In 2009, Linda Rasmussen and Ken Rasmussen were added to the Scholarship name. It is now officially called The Jim Deane, Linda Rasmussen, and Ken Rasmussen Coach’s Scholarship. Initially, one scholarship was granted to a graduating boy and girl and has been building momentum as donations increased.

Currently multiple scholarships are being awarded to graduating boys and girls who have run in the Cross Country program for at least two years.
